Rava dosa with peanut chutney


What better way to start the day than admiringly tearing off a crispy rava dosa and scooping out some great peanut chutney to go with it!



1 cup urad dal (black gram)
¼ cup chana dal (bengal gram)
1 tsp methi (fenugreek) seeds 
4 cups roasted rava
Salt to taste

For Peanut Chutney

½ cup peanuts dry roasted without skin
A few sprigs of coriander leaves
1 small onion
2 green chillies
Tamariand, the size of a shallot
Salt to taste


Soak black gram, bengal gram and methi seeds for two hours. Grind to a smooth paste
Add roasted rava into the mixie jar along with the ground mix and run the mixie for 2-3 minutes
Add enough salt
Allow it to ferment for one night or 7-8 hours
Before making dosas, add little water to the batter and mix well
The batter should be a little more watery than the usual dosa batter

Preparation of Peanut Chutney

Heat a pan
Add ½ tsp oil
Add onions, coriander and green chillies
Saute for some time so that the raw taste goes away
After it cools off, grind it together with the peanuts and tamarind
Add salt to taste
This chutney goes very well with the crispy rava dosa
