A signature dish of the Christians, meat oolarthiyathu is very popular in Kerala. Whether it is for lunch or dinner, meat oolarthiyathu is the right choice to have it to your heart's content. One who loves Kerala-style curries will absolutely go bonkers when this is on the menu.

Ingredients

1 kg tender meat

4 dsp curd

1 tsp red chilli powder

1/2 tsp pepper powder

2 dsp finely crushed shallots

4 tsp finely chopped ginger

12 flakes of crushed garlic

1/2 cup oil

2 tsp mustard seeds

1 cup long sliced onion

1 dsp crushed garlic with skin

1 tsp crushed dry chillies

Pepper powder to taste

Curry leaves

Salt to taste

Preparation

Mix meat pieces with curd, red chilli powder, pepper powder, onion, ginger, and garlic.

Keep it aside for 2 hours.

Afterwords, cook the meat in a pressure cooker along with the marinade till it is tender and there is just enough creamy gravy to coat the meat pieces.

Heat oil in a pan.

Add mustard seeds in it.

When it splutters, add onion, garlic and saute till light brown.

Add crushed chillies, pepper and curry leaves.

Sauté till all the ingredients are fried well.

Stir in the cooked meat and allow it to roast well.

Serve hot.
