Fish peralan


This dish, which is loaded with flavours, is the perfect one to add to the menu of your next house party, if you are looking to impress your friends who are seafood lovers. 


1 kg fish (cut into pieces)
¼-½ cup oil
2 tsp coriander seeds (roasted)
1 tsp mustard seeds
¼ tsp fenugreek seeds
1 ½ cups onions (thinly sliced)
1 tbsp chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
¼ cup tamarind (soaked in water)
Salt as required
Curry leaves


Clean the fish pieces
Heat oil in a pan and add roasted coriander seeds, mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds
When these begin to pop, add the onions and sauté well
Into it add the chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder mixed in some water 
Sauté on low flame
When the masala turn fragrant add the fish pieces
Mix everything without breaking the fish pieces
Add the tamarind water and salt. Pour some water if required
Cook with the lid on
Add the curry leaves when the gravy begins to thicken
Cover the fish pieces in the flavoursome gravy and take it off the flame
Fish peralan can be served hot with rice, chapathi or roti.
