Delicious sweet potato chocolate cake

This oven-less chocolate cake with sweet potato and oats is delicious and easy to make. A storehouse of fibres, sweet potato should be included in diet of both children and adults. Many mothers complain that children do not particularly enjoy eating sweet potato. Try out this unique sweet potato and oats chocolate cake which is tasty and healthy as well.


3 eggs

½ cup powdered jaggery

½ cup oil

1 tsp vanilla essence

¾ oats powder

1/3 cup cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup sweet potato (boiled and mashed)


Mix the eggs and powdered jaggery well in a bowl

Add oil and vanilla essence

Mix well and keep it aside

Sieve the oats powder, baking powder and cocoa powder together into a bowl

Add the previously prepared egg-jaggery and oil mixture into it gradually

Mix well without forming any lumps

Into it add the mashed sweet potato and fold well slowly

Pour this batter into a cake tray lined with butter paper

Heat a big non stick vessel on medium flame for 5 minutes with the lid on

Place a stand in this hot vessel

Place the cake tin over this stand

Close the lid and bake for 30 minutes on medium flame

Cut the cake into desired shapes once it cools down.
