Try this healthy salad to keep away sleeplessness, fatigue

As per the Ayurvedic tradition, the human body is made up of 5 elements and has the 3 doshas, vata, pitta and kapha, in equal proportions. The body functions well and we feel healthy and energetic if these doshas are in perfect balance. It plays a major role in making us feel calm and also fills our mind with positive energy.

Here are the symptoms if the element of vata gets reduced in our body:

• Restlessness

• Stress and anxiety

• Fatigue

• Nausea

• Insomnia

During the winter, the vata may be high in the human body. Ayurveda prescribes remedies for sleeplessness and exhaustion during this time:

• Warm food must be consumed during the winter season

• Avoid eating raw food

• Consume food in fewer potions

• Include sweet, sour and salt in your food, in meagre amounts, to maintain the vata in the body

Here is a healthy recipe which would help to lower the vata during the winter season:

Mixed vegetable salad

Sweet potato

Carrot (cubed)

Coconut (grated)

Salt as required

Oil as required

Cook the sweet potato

Boil the carrot and then cool it sown

In a bowl add the cooked sweet potato and carrot

Add the grated coconut and salt as required

Mix well

Dress the salad with some oil.

It is always healthy to eat cooked vegetables. Vegetables of your choice can be added in this salad (beetroot, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumber, green beans, lettuce, lady finger, long beans, potato, pumpkin, radish etc). Lemon juice, chili powder, asafoetida, scraped jaggery or sesame oil can be used as salad dressings
