French toasts have been a breakfast favourite for generations. The use of easily available bread and milk and the ease of making the toasts make them popular at homes across the world. The classic dish, also known as eggy bread, makes for a delicious sweet snack in the morning. How about going for a baked version? Baked French toasts are like little bread muffins with the classic toasty flavour.

You can prepare the toast mix, the night before and bake it in the morning to save time.

4 cups of bread shredded by hand

1 ¼ cups of milk

2 eggs

¼ cup castor sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp cinnamon powder

A pinch of salt

In a large bowl, beat egg and milk using a whisk

Add sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon powder and salt

Beat thoroughly

Add shredded bread and mix well

Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or soak overnight

Preheat the oven to 175 degree Celsius

Grease a 12 holder muffin tray, fill half way with the bread filling

Bake plain or with filling of your choice for 20 mins

Add topping of your choice after baking and serve
