Semi chunk rolls – an appetizing snack with soya

Soya is the ultimate health food that every expert suggests to you. Thanks to its uncanny resemblance to meat, it can be one smart addition to your snacks and curries. Go for this appetizing soya chunk rolls recipe with a crunchy vermicelli coating.

The recipe is devised by Saritha Sreejith from Kakkanad, Kochi, the winner of Double Horse Onmanorama HomeChef Chef of the Month title. Saritha, a customer relations lead by profession, is a master of innovative snacks, with soya chunks being her favourite ingredient. An ardent fan of soya chunk biryani, Saritha whipped up this yummy dish as an evening snack for her husband and school-going son.

Ingredients

½ cup Double Horse soya chunks

1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste

2 tsp chopped green chillies

2 tsp chopped onions

1 cup chopped carrots

Salt to taste

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp chilli Powder

1/2 cup chicken, ground after cooking with Salt and turmeric powder

1/2 tsp chicken masala

1-2 tsp spring onions

Coriander leaves

1/2 tsp soya sauce

1 1/2 tsp tomato sauce

1/2 cup mashed potato

1/2 tsp pepper powder

1 cup egg white

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1/2 cup vermicelli

Oil for frying

Preparation

Soak soya chunks in hot water and drain

Shred it into small pieces

Heat oil a pan

Saute ginger-garlic paste, green chillies and chopped onions

Add salt and turmeric powder, mix well

Add chilli powder and saute again

Add mashed soya chunks to it and saute again

Add ground chicken

Pour in water and cook covered

Add chicken masala

Boil Potato and mash it

Add chicken masala, spring onions and coriander leaves

Add soya and tomato sauce, mix well

Mix it with mashed potato and pepper powder

Take a pinch of the mix and roll them to desired shapes

Dip it in egg white and then roll it in bread crumbs and vermicelli

Fry till it turns golden colour

Serve with sauce and raw onions
