Try this unique morappam for breakfast

Do you want to try something different for breakfast other than the regular dosa or idli? Kuzhi paniyaram is a delicious breakfast dish which can be prepared quite easily. Also known as morappam or undayappam, the dish tastes amazing with the regular coconut chutney and sambar combination. Check out the recipe of kuzhi paniyaram:

Ingredients

2 glasses raw rice

2 tbsp urad dal

1 ½ cup dosa batter

2 tbsp yogurt

2 tbsp coconut oil

Mustard seeds as required

1 tsp urad dal

3 -4 green chilies (finely chopped)

Small piece ginger

6 -7 shallots

Curry leaves

Preparation

Soak the raw rice and urad dal for at least 4 - 5 hours.

Grind this into smooth batter.

Add the raw rice - urad dal batter into the dosa batter.

Into it add the yogurt and salt as required.

Mix well.

Heat coconut oil and prepare a tempering by roasting mustard seeds, urad dal, ginger, green chillies and shallots.

Add this tempering into the paniyaram batter.

Heat 1 tea spoon of oil in each hole of an unniyappam vessel.

Pour the batter and cook until both sides are light brown in colour.

Tastes best when served hot.
