Uluvakkanji – an easy marunnu kanji using fenugreek

Fenugreek or methi has been widely used in the monsoon diet by Indians traditionally, owing to its effects in soothing stomach ailments that come with the showers. Fenugreek helps control cholesterol and lower inflammation. Grab a bowl of steaming fenugreek porridge - uluvakkanji – this monsoon to keep your tummy healthy and happy.

Ingredients

2 tsp uluva (fenugreek), soaked

1 cup unakkalari (raw rice), washed and strained

1/2 tsp cumin

Half of a coconut, scraped

Salt as required

Preparation

Cook rice and fenugreek cooked in 4 cups of water

Crush coconut and cumin and add it to the cooked rice

Add salt as required and serve hot
