Squid or calamari that belongs to the family of cephalopods is often hailed, in the culinary world, as the most delicious seafood.

This squid roast is spicy and is loaded with Kerala-style flavours from aromatics. Check out the pretty simple recipe of delicious calamari roast.


½ kg squid
200 gm onion
1 tomato
5 green chillies
1 big piece of ginger
6 cloves garlic
1 ½ tbsp chilli powder
2 tbsp black pepper powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala
Coconut oil as required
2 bunches curry leaves


Cut the cleaned calamari into small ring shaped pieces
Make sure that the pieces are thin as it takes more time to cook larger chunks
Marinate the calamari with salt and turmeric powder
Keep them aside
Heat coconut oil in a pan and sauté onions and tomato
Into it add the ginger, garlic, and green chillies
Sauté well
Now add the chilli powder, the marinated calamari pieces, and some water as well
Allow the calamari to cook well
When the water begins to evaporate, add the black pepper powder and garama masala and curry leaves
Roast well until the dish is dry and delicious.
