Pressure cooker rice payasam


This tasty and easy pressure cooker rice payasam or rice kheer can be prepared in a jiffy. It is the perfect recipe if you are not ready to spend too much time in the kitchen cooking something sweet for Onam. Here is how you can prepare this rice payasam in a pressure cooker.


½ cup brown rice
1 cup sugar
4 cups milk
2 tbsp ghee
2 cardamom pods (powdered)


In a pressure cooker add the brown rice, sugar, milk, ghee and cardamom powder
When the steam begins to come out of the nozzle, put on the weight and cook
After two minutes, put the flame on simmer and cook for another 40 minutes
Take the cooker off the heat and keep it aside for at least 20 minutes before serving the payasam.
