How to make dates ada this Vishu

Ada is one of the main Kerala delicacies we have on Vishu. Usually we make ada using chakka during Vishu. Here's a twist given to ada using dates.

Ingredients

1 cup rice flour

Salt as needed

Water as needed

1 cup dates

2 tsp cardamom

½ cup grated coconut

Preparation

Mix rice flour, salt and lukewarm water and make it into a semi loose dough

Grind the dates, cardamom and grated coconut in a mixer

Make into small balls and spread onto cut plantain leaves to the shape of ada (circular)

Wet your fingertips to spread the mix evenly on all its sides

Take a little of the dates mixture and place in the centre of the ada

Seal both sides of the ada

Steam the ada until it is cooked well.
