Make dal fry using just Kerala government's lockdown food kit

The Kerala government will begin the distribution of food kits to 87 lakh families in the state by the first week of April in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown.

The kit contains staple grocery items like dal and basic masalas. Here is a very simple dal fry recipe you can make at home using just the ingredients from the kit.

Ingredients

1 cup tur dal
2 tbsp sunflower oil
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp chilli powder
Salt, to taste
1/2 tsp fenugreek

Preparation

Soak dal for half an hour
In a thick bottomed pan, heat oil
Add fenugreek and stir
Add drained dal and cook for 2 minutes
Add coriander and chilli powder
Cook on low flame while stirring continuously
Now, add water and salt and open cook on medium flame till water is reduced and dal is soft
Enjoy with steamed rice.
