Skipping breakfast will not reduce that extra flab

Nutrition experts say that breakfast, the most important meal of your day, should be packed with vitamins and other essential nutrients to take on the day on a healthy note. It in fact helps the body to store up energy which is required to perform activities until noon. Our bodies undergo several functions, in sleep, at night. The dinner that we have the previous night gets absorbed into the body. It is during sleep that the body performs a few crucial functions like repairing tissues.

When we wake up in the morning, the body requires time to bounce back as the blood pressure and sugar lever would be low. A nutritious breakfast would help to bring these levels to normal. Since we sleep for almost eight hours without eating anything, it is important to eat as much amount of healthy food as we need to feel energetic. Studies suggest that those who eat a healthy and filling breakfast will not be affected by obesity or problems related to indigestion.

Drinking a glass of water on an empty stomach activates digestive organs. A few fruits can be eaten after that. Fresh fruits provide energy, fibres, and antioxidants. Drinking a glass of juice made with spinach, pomegranate, and tomatoes would also be a perfect start for the day. Those who have to go to the school or office can eat 1-2 bananas until they have breakfast. Adding a few fruits to the breakfast helps the body to store up energy until the next meal. Dates, dry fig, apricot, raisins, and prunes are a healthy addition to your breakfast diet.

Tea and coffee can be replaced by a cup of healthy green tea. However, proper breakfast should be eaten at least an hour after consuming it. The Japanese eat a balanced breakfast which is filled with protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Most of the Indian breakfast combinations are extremely delicious and are store houses of vitamins and essential nutrients. Here are some of the healthy Indian breakfast dishes:

Idli with chutney and sambar loaded with vegetables

Vegetable parantha with yogurt

Vegetable uthappam

Mixed vegetable and peas upma

Vegetable masala omelet in vegetable sandwich

Roti made with rice flour and mixed vegetables

Many believe that they can shed body weight easily by giving up breakfast. However, avoiding breakfast would result in lack of energy required for the proper functioning of the brain, leading to fatigue.

Drinking a cup of tea or coffee with added sugar in the morning would make you feel energized for a short time. However, the caffeine in it would lower the levels of vitamins and other minerals in the body. Eating processed food for breakfast, too, would ruin the natural proteins present in our body.

Skipping breakfast or eating it in minimal quantities is not an easy way to shed body weight. It is important to nourish the body, which has been sleeping for eight hours, with healthy and nutritious food in the morning.
