Though the Keralites residing at the St. Lucia Island in West Indies are significantly less in number, they, however, have proved that they indeed have compassionate hearts.
As part of the ‘Cook for Kerala’ campaign 5 Malayali friends have collected around 2000 dollars (about Rs 1.5 lakhs) from the Caribbean island, by cooking an incredible feast for the fellow islanders. Delicious barbecue and Caribbean dishes were cooked at the event inaugurated by Allen Chastanet, the prime minister of the island.
The campaign was led by Sibi Gopalakrishnan, Akhil Nanmana, Chandrakant, Vinayak Mohan and Nelson who are members of the standing committee of the Kerala Viswasabha.
Interestingly, only 12 Keralites reside at this extremely scenic island. However, this didn’t deter them from doing something for their home state. Cook for Kerala campaign, initiated by Suresh Pillai, Executive Chef of Raviz Hotels, was held at various places around the globe by expatriate Malayali communities to donate monetary aid for the flood ravaged Kerala.
