Beef Kurma

Beef cooked with onions and coconut, flavoured with cashew paste and garnished with coriander leaves.

Ingredients

½ kg beef

1 onion, chopped

1 green chilli, chopped fine

1 small piece of ginger


For the gravy


Enough oil

2 onions

3 cloves garlic

7 green chillies

1 small piece ginger

Coriander powder, turmeric powder and red chili powder to taste

Meat masala to taste

Salt to taste

¼ coconut, scraped

1 tsp poppy seeds

4 cashew nuts

Coriander leaves for garnishing

Preparation

Rub in the onions, green chilli and ginger with the beef, keep aside for half an hour and pressure cook.
Heat oil in a pan, sauté the onion, garlic, green chillies and ginger and then add the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, meat masala and salt and sauté well.
Remove from fire; allow cooling and grind well in the mixer.
Pour into a pan, bring to a boil and add the meat.
Grind the coconut, poppy seeds and cashew nuts to a fine paste and add to the mix. Bring to a boil, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
