Fried Fish in Thick Gravy

Fish pieces deep fried and cooked in thick gravy of onions and tomatoes, a spicy and simply irresistible dish especially for fish lovers.

Ingredients

500 gm of any good quality fish cut in pieces
2 tbsp red chilli powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
Enough oil for frying
1tsp ginger, crushed
1 tbsp garlic, crushed
2 large onions, chopped
1 large tomato, chopped
1 tbsp coriander powder
A few curry leaves
Salt - to taste

Preparation

Marinate the fish with a mix of red chilli powder (1tbsp), turmeric powder and salt and keep aside for 15 minutes.
Deep fry and keep aside.
Sauté the ginger and garlic in the remaining oil.
Add the onion, tomato and salt and sauté till the onion turns translucent.
Now add and stir in the remaining red chilli powder, coriander powder and curry leaves.
Pour half cup water, cover the pan and cook for five minutes on a low fire.
Uncover and thoroughly stir the content.
Add the fish and bring the curry to a boil.
Serve hot.
