Be it north or south, Naan is the most popular bread in the restaurants across India. This thick flat-breads would easily pair with a spicy veg or non-veg curry. There are many naan varieties including butter naan, kulcha or stuffed naan. This super-soft roti is often made on tandoors or phulka grills.

However, grills are not a common thing for South Indian kitchen, which confine the naans to restaurants. Well, we have the best alternative- pressure cookers. Naans can be easily cooked using pressure cookers through these simple steps. Watch the video to learn how to.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cup of maida

1 tbsp oil

3/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp baking soda

3/4 tsp salt

2 tsp sugar

1/4 cup milk

1/4 cup curd

1/4 cup water

Preparation

Pour oil to the flour and mix well

Make a well in the center and add milk, curd, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda

Cover it with flour and leave it for a minute

Add water and form a smooth dough

Knead well

Cover the dough with a wet cloth and keep aside for two hours

Knead it again

Make 4-5 lemon sized balls

Press them with a rolling pin to make patties

Sprinkle with chopped garlic and coriander

Flatten them using a rolling pin

Heat a pressure cooker on the stove without its lid

When the cooker is hot, take a naan and apply some water on its back

Stick it inside the cooker

Turn the cooker upside down and place on top of the flame

The naans will easily come off when they are well cooked

Brush some butter on the naans

Serve hot with a mushroom or chicken curry
