Pearl millet idli

An active breakfast is one where active food is at play. Active foods are high on antioxidants and their incorporation into your daily diet is highly beneficial. Let's see how peal millet is utilised to make delicious idlis.

Ingredients

200gm pearl millet

200gm white rice

100gm black gram/uzhunnu

Salt, as required

Preparation

Soak pearl millet and white rice together in water for eight hours

Soak black gram for two hours

Grind black gram fine by sprinkling a little water while grinding. Keep aside

Now wet grind millet and rice to a coarse batter

Mix both batters and add salt to it

Allow the batter to ferment for five to six hours

Fill the batter in greased idli moulds and steam-cook for 15 minutes

Serve the idlis with chutney and sambar
