Marunnukanji, or herbal gruel, is an ideal home supplement for maintaining holistic health and building up resistance. It is beneficial to those suffering from aches, edema, gastric ailments and indigestion.

Ingredients

Njavara rice, soaked for over five hours

Coconut milk

Extract from finely ground medicinal herbs

Fenugreek

Dill

Cumin seeds

Garden cress

Sesame seeds

Melted jaggery

Preparation

Pressure cook the rice, coconut milk, herb extract, fenugreek, dill, cumin seeds, garden cress, and sesame seeds in the required quantity of water.

Once cooked, add coconut milk, melted jaggery, powdered cardamom and a spoonful of ghee.

Allow it to come to a boil.

Marunnukanji is a fine herbal-medicinal dinner-time gruel

Diabetics may substitute jaggery with salt.
