A Mexican dessert to die for, ‘Tres leches torte’ means a ‘threemilk cake’. This recipe uses condensed milk, double toned milk and whipping cream to create to create triple magic!
1 ½ cups white flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
½ cups butter
1 cup sugar
½ tsp vanilla essence
2 cups milk
1 tin condensed milk
1 can double toned milk
1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
1 ½ cups Sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
Heat oven to 180oC
Grease a baking tray of about 9 x 13 and keep aside.
Sift the white flour and baking powder.
Combine the butter and sugar till it becomes smooth. To this add the eggs one after the other. Add ½ tsp vanilla essence and mix well.
To the mix, fold in the maida bit by bit. Mix well, pour on baking tray and bake for 30 minutes.
Using a fork to prick the cooked cake at random.
Combine 2 cups of milk, the condensed milk and the double toned milk and pour over the slightly warm cake, so that it thoroughly soaks.
Combine the heavy whipping cream, sugar and vanilla essence and beat well. Pour over the cake.
This dessert tastes great with fresh fruits too.
